Dina Mande is a live action director, storyteller and still photographer specializing in real people, lifestyle and comedy.
Career In her past lives, Dina has worked as an executive producer, advertising creative director, art director, editor, visual effects artist and graphic designer.
She is the owner/creative director of Juice Media, a production company based in Paso Robles, Ca, a wine and food mecca on the Central Coast. In 2005, she co-founded Subliminal, an LA based commercial production company specializing in television commercials and web films. As a Sr. Art Director at New Wave Entertainment,Dina worked on many award-winning campaigns in television and theatrical advertising for studios and networks including Paramount Pictures, Universal, Walt Disney Studios, Fox, Sony, Warner Bros and HBO, and designed the entire graphics package for the 2004 Emmy Awards broadcast. Film Festivals and Awards Dina’s projects have enjoyed several film festival awards. She is the director of the popular web trilogy, “Paso Wine Man” produced for the Paso Robles Wine Alliance which has more than 100K hits on YouTube and a mention in the NY Times. Her personal short film, Divorce Honeymoon, shot on her iPhone in the summer of 2011 has recently won 2nd place for the Wine Spectator Video of the Year. She also directed the video, “Wine Is” which won the same Wine Spectator competition for 2010 for her client, Joel Peterson. Her short, “Small Change” was one of five short film finalists for More Magazine/Women In Film’s 2007 Competition, and also played numerous festivals from Tribeca to Singapore and won a Silver Remi at Worldfest Houston. Her short film, “A Dog Story,” was an official selection of the 2003 Toronto Film Festival as part of Kevin Spacey’s TriggerStreet.com Project Top Ten. Two of her comedy shorts, “HotrthnHell” and “The Witching Hour”were featured on AMC during their 2003 and 2004 Monsterfest.
Spotlab / Group101Spots As founder of the groundbreaking development program, SpotLab, Dina has helped to launch the careers of over 85 new commercial directors. Mentored by top ad agencies and production companies and shooting agency scripts, each director build a new reel in six months. Over 500 spots have been shot in the program since Jan, 2003.
Prior to Group101Spots, Dina was a co-creator of Group101Films, a filmmaking collective of Hollywood entertainment industry professionals which challenged each member to produce a short film every 30 days. The collective, founded as a New Year’s resolution in January, 2000 exploded: over 500 filmmakers have embraced the “no budget, no studio, no problem” credo to shoot a short a month for six months and Group101 filmmakers produced over 2,500 short films between 2000 and 2004. Television Development Based on the work done in the SpotLab program, she has created a webseries, “SpotLab: New Commercial Directors Breaking In” where she has shot behind the scenes on their sets as they completed the work to build their reels. The series took the prize for “Best New Series” in the reality category at the 2009 NATPE Next TV competition, which is one of several tv ideas she has in development. “Think Top Chef for commercial directors.”
Web Development In her effort to harness the creative talent of the editors, dps, copywriters and other creatives who wanted to collaborate with her group of new directors, she conceived and launched the innovative networking site TheSpotSpace”, which Dina hopes will grow up to be the IMDB of commercial production.
